ART ON THE PROM SCHOOL WORKSHOPS

Art on the Prom has  been working with local schools by providing workshops during the summer terms. These art workshops, funded by local solicitors Jackamans, give an opportunity for pupils to experience working with an artist on a shared theme. In the past, these themes have included flags, puppets, paintings, recycled woven pictures, seaside cut out figures and wooden collages. Special Schools in the area have also joined in during the last five years thanks to funding from Activities Unlimited.  These workshops have been enjoyed at Thomas Wolsey, Heathside, Beacon Hill, Belstead, Rushmere Hall S & L unit and Sidegate SSC unit.

Art on the Prom was awarded the Felixstowe Mayor’s annual award for contributions to local community, which includes recognition of these wonderful art workshops taking place in schools.

This year the theme for the workshops is a feasting table of seaside foods and drinks made out of a range of materials.  Children from Fairfield Infants, Colneis, Trimley St Martin, Felixstowe Academy and Thomas Wolsey schools will display their work at Art on the Prom on Sunday 3rd September.  Each child taking part has received a certificate.  Make sure you visit the display!!
