About the event

The fourteenth annual Art on the Prom will take place on Sunday September 3rd from 10am-4.30pm on the sea front from the pier to the Spa Gardens. The layout  is expected to be the same as in the last two years, using the approach road to the Spa Theatre for entertainment and some art stalls and bringing the art activity tents into the heart of the event.

Art on the Prom is a free contemporary art fair where professional and hobby artists display and sell original artwork. The beautiful setting adds an extra dimension. In 2016 over 100 artists were featured, covering a wide range of media including painting, ceramics, photography, glass, jewellery and textiles. Photographs of artists’ works for 2017 are on the Studio page of this website.

Art on the Prom is a free community event which attracts over 20,000 people. As well as the opportunity to browse or buy original artworks the free art activity tents, which run throughout the day, provide young and old with the chance to have a go at creating their own piece in one of the many media available.

This year we have a new opportunity for these aged 15 and above to join a Drawing Workshop led by experienced artist and teacher, Malcolm Cudmore.  These are free and will be repeated at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm.  Places are limited.  Please contact Malcolm to book a place on 01986893291 or eamil at info@malcolm-cudmore.com

Art on the Prom works with local schools and at the event a display of local children’s artwork is featured . A variety of bands and entertainers perform throughout the day to add to the enjoyment of the occasion. Why not put the date in your diary now!

Art on the Prom is supported by grants from local councils as well as sponsorship from local businesses. It is a non-profit making organisation which aims to promote economic well-being, provide cultural and leisure opportunities and foster a pride in our community.
